This date in history: First human in space

Today, in 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space aboard the the Vostok spacecraft.

Since then, we've put men on the moon, built space stations, sent probes to every (current) planet, and more.

Humanity has come a long way, but the universe is a big place, and there's always more to explore.
