I'm sure most people are familiar with the astoundingly bad Creationist argument that states there's too little dust on the moon for it to have been accumulating for the past 4.5 billion years. It's so bad, that even Answers in Genesis says not to use it. Of course, this didn't stop the willfully ignorant companion of Brother Jed from using it last month.
But of course, if there's not enough dust on the moon, then there's probably not enough dust on Mars. And with the new Phoenix lander on the surface digging through that dust, I'm willing to bet it's not going to be long before we start hearing "Mars dust" arguments popping up. And I bet they're also going to point to this press release showing that the dust is really thin. Thin enough that the retrorockets that helped give the lander a soft landing was able to blow it away to uncover a solid substrate.
Angry, without God, I guess the only thing you can be is angry, or at least unfulfilled. The teachings of this world will leave you with knowledge (much of it wrong) but no wisdom. I hope you find that you are wrong before it is too late.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work.

Even Einstein said that given the complexity of the universe that follows a multitude of precise physical laws, there is a God who orchestrated it. It doesn't just happen by pure happenstance.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I wouldn't expect a 24 year old boy to recognize that.
Perhaps a course in probability and statistics would convince this boy that the odds of this world being able to create itself is so unlikely, an alternative source, (perhaps undefinable by science) would have to be necessary.
ReplyDeleteOf course, science doesn't mingle with mathematics... does it?
In my opinion, it would take a mighty source, perhaps a God, to create the science necessary for this world to exist. By the way, does anyone out there know what came first, the chicken or the egg?
The chicken came first. Good grief! Where did you attend elementary school? Don’t you know that the check evolved from reptiles who lay eggs?
ReplyDeleteAngry, without God, I guess the only thing you can be is enlightened, or at least on the path to enlightenment. The teachings of this world will leave you with knowledge (much of it useful) and the inclination to reject fairy tales and superstition. I hope you continue down the path of insight since this world is starving for intelligent thought.

ReplyDeleteThe odds of your mother and father meeting are astronomical. Therefore you do not exist, right?
"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this." - Albert Einstein
Lol Brother Jed is using this argument? I'd love to hear a story.
ReplyDeleteI see many people commenting on Albert Einstein and his faith..it is known that Albert did recognize God as the Master designer of this beautiful universe..and of course the Bible speaks of the face God did indeed put order and manages that order in the universe.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are , now that Albert has passed on wouldn't it be interesting to hear what he has to say now? I'd bet he wishes he had read those 'fairy tales' about God.
God does not exist in this space or time, so how can we say how long a day is in Gods time, and yes there are to many complexities in this universe for it to have magically poiked into existence from a single evolutionary convulsion 15 billion earth orbital cycles ago, there are likely more of these little poiks along side this one that God uses to his enjoyment, to find out go to the cross and offer yourself, then lead a decent life, what do you have to lose if I'm wrong? but what do you have to lose if You are?
ReplyDeleteBlimey AA, you stirred up all this from a little bit of Mars dust? You truly are a creator yourself. Time to start a church ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what happened either. I came back from a 2 week hiatus and suddenly I have a bunch of people commenting out of nowhere. I'm strongly suspecting it's a single schizophrenic person...
ReplyDeleteWell, since most are anonymously, it might as well be just one person.
ReplyDeleteJon,
ReplyDeleteI think the creationists are mad at you because you have taken away what other wise might be a perfectly good lie for them to use.
Sally, Einstein was not theistic. That is, he didn't believe in any kind of God. This is well documented. Your own credibility is decreased when you put things into other's mouths.
ReplyDeleteIf Einstein had said such a thing, it wouldn't mean much unless the rest of his reasoning was also understood. That's how science works. And if Einstein said that it was faith, then, it wouldn't be science.
Well, since most are anonymously, it might as well be just one person.
