The worst part about living in a dorm...

There's many worst parts really. I've got some really horrible roomates this year. One is completely tone deaf and insists in singing loudly in Spanish (his native language). He also doesn't ever sleep for extended periods, just takes "siestas" throughout the day, so often there's bad singing along with bad laptop speakers at 3 in the morning.

But right now, I think the worst part is that they've already turned the heat off for the rest of the semester (since we had all that nice 80º weather last week) and now it's been in the 30º's for the past 4 days. So our room has slowly cooled down to be in the mid 50's.

Nothing like having to wear a coat to sit at the computer. I'm sure Mollishka would sympathize.

Ha!

The dorm I lived in was actually never too cold. I don't think it would have been physically possible.

The irony concerning the current situation in my office building, though, is that we complained loudly and bitterly, and they eventually turned off the heat and on the A/C about two weeks before planned. It was lovely for about a week, and then ... colder than a well-digger's ass. But still not cold enough to actually be annoying, though I suspect the temperature at which one wants their office is different than the temperature at which one wants their bedroom.

Your roommate complaints remind me of my brother's junior year roommate. He was Thai, and had a girlfriend back in Thailand, and so he would "speak gibberish" on the phone between, oh, 3 and 6 a.m. every night. It put a bit of a damper on their relationship.
