Firefox is starting to suck more than Windows

Dear Firefox,

I'm not sure what is going on, but after installing an update a few months back, you've been sucking pretty hard. There's two main issues you're having.

The first is that you've just been stupid slow sometimes. You'll frequently freeze up for 30 seconds when I load a page. Can't change tabs. Can't stop the loading. Just frozen. Generally, you comes back, but on occasion it's just gone until I Ctrl + Alt + Del the legs out from under you and start over.

The second is that you frequently just completely crash. I'm in the middle of doing something and *poof*. The window is just gone. I restart and get your, "Whoops! This is embarrassing" message and then you reloads everything I had going. At least you're cool enough to remember what was going on. But this is happening daily. WTF is going on Firefox?

I know I've got a dozen tabs open of articles I'm reading, perhaps some streaming internet radio and then Skype, Acrobat, and some other heavy RAM munching programs out there, but my computer's beefy. It can handle. You can handle.

I love the Firefox, but I've already downloaded Chrome. It's a little too minimalistic, but I swear.... I'll use it if you make me. Play nice.

Dear angry astronomer,
You are stupid. Please just uninstall any of your buggy addons or cleanup your pc with a av if you have installed one.

What are you missing in Chrome that you had in Firefox? You can get Adblock+, Flashblock, SmoothScroll, and Mouse Stroke in Chrome, what else do you need? Totally worth it for Chrome's raw speed... (IMHO)

What Chrome has that I am missing in Firefox?

Only raw speed?

Opera engine is now faster than Chrome so you should move on to Opera because it also offers Adblock, Flashblock and yes raw speed that is greater than Chrome's and Safari's...

Plugins are usually the bane.

That said, I have :
Web Developer
User Agent Switcher
Sage
Live HTTP headers
flashblock
firebug
delicious bookmarks
adblock plus

And it's still pretty zippy. Google around a bit for "firefox optimizations" or some such thing. Lots of good tips there.

Same thing here, Jon...uber slowness right after that update just before Christmas. Even got Chrome going to a certain satisfaction (yes, very very zippy). However, my whole system ended up bogging down so I reinstalled every, including Vista (mentioned in my previous Comment). Believe me when I say I had shivers when I installed the fresh version of FF, but all has been fine since.

My suggestion: uninstall, then freshly install newest version of FF, and whatever add-ons you like. If FF no longer slow, I'm putting my money on the update.

So much for Win95 And Beyond making computers "user-friendly".

I have given up on firefox.... I went to chrome and sure I don't have BILLIONS of awesome add ons.. but it isn't crashing.

Chrome & IE have separate processes for each window. Window X can die and window Y keeps going. There's a separate process just for Flash; periodically it crashes and I get a "yucky face" in all of my flashy bits.

But I'm nuts. Firefox for fun, Opera for politics, and Chrome for business. And 3-5 windows with 5-15 tabs in each one.

I'm just okay on FF right now, but the thing that bugs me is the memory usage. If I load an IE Tab, FF's memory usage jumps 100M or so. If I then kill the IE Tab, FF's memory usage drops maybe 10M. What gives there?

If you can allocate it, you can deallocate it.

Blah blah blah. The simple truth is it DID start to suck around posting date here, and it has steadily gotten worse. Firefox developers are always talking about how "fast" it is, how many awesome add-ons you can use, how you can configure it YOUR WAY. With that freedom, is an automatic eventual FAIL, by design. Ive seen it many times in my I.T. career. Quote; " Abhinav K said...

Ive also seen the above mice who refuse to abandon a sinking ship. Just like if MACS started really, really, sucking....(which some would argue already occurs), the MAC converts would hold on to the end, like a mildly retarded, fixated fanboy...You cant design a product, advertise how awesome it is because of this feature and that, and then say, well if you use the awesome features, it will suck.....or maybe you can, if some of you will deny reality and continue saying "its you" like some drooling, anger management candidate I.T. support guy...<-- Usually fresh out of college, arrogant to the point of stupidity..you know who you are..
